This new client contacted New Flight Charters for help in arranging a round trip private jet trip from Jackson Hole, Wyoming to McCook, Nebraska for 7 passengers.  After reviewing the best available options they selected a Citation Ultra light jet for the trip which quoted $12,221 all included.

Nanette, just wanted you to know that the charter flight came off very well. The snow was pounding down when we departed yesterday morning, AA had an inbound 757 slip off the Jackson runway mid-day, the airport reopened late in the day, and we came back in unaffected about 6:00pm! It worked out just like you thought it would -- thanks again.

Growth in Demand for Private Jets – Charters Increase Over 2009

(Marketwire - January 11, 2011) - U.S. U.S. Private jet charter industry leader New Flight Charters reports a 15.4% client spending increase in private air charters for the 4th Quarter 2010, over the comparable quarter 2009.

While New Flight Charters handled 232 flights during the quarter for a 5% increase, more revealing is the average charter booking amount increased 21.2% year-over-year, to $17,630. Thus overall private jet flight consumers in late 2010 were chartering higher-end aircraft, longer flights, or both.

More private fliers are chartering jets. During 4th Quarter 2010, jet aircraft comprised 77% of all private charters booked through the company, up from 70% in 2009. The remaining charters were mostly turboprop aircraft. Light jet activity increased the most, up 31% year-over-year. The most popular light jets during the quarter were the Citation V/Ultra, Learjet 31 and the Citation CJ series.

“The take-away from the quarter is that private fliers overall have begun flying more and moving up in aircraft. Many are moving into jets from the more economical turboprops,” said Rick Colson, New Flight Charters president. Update on American Airlines 757 Off Jackson Hole Runway

Pilot or systems malfunction? A video taken by a passenger aboard the aircraft during landing shows the left engine reverser attempt to deploy, then close, then slowly fully deploy but 27 seconds after touchdown. The engines spool up but only on the last section of runway before the aircraft goes off  the end of the runway into the snow. The wing spoilers appear to never deploy.

No breaking action appears to happen until this last estimated 1000 feet or less of runway.  So the question seems to focus on the deployment of the 757's engine reversers and spoilers. 

These photos were taken January 1 of the AA Boeing 757 still out of service at Jackson Hole airport.  A crew, who appear to be investigators and/or maintenance technicians, is looking over the engine in question, opening and closing the reverser panel.
